J. Bennett & Son Insurance Brokers, who form part of Jensten Insurance Brokers Thames Valley Region, continue to sponsor Thame Town Cricket Club for the 2024-25 season.
As their longest-running club sponsor and one of two shirt sponsors, J. Bennett & Son is grateful for the opportunity to support the club and contribute to the local community in Oxford through its leading sports clubs.
To celebrate the partnership and to mark Thame Town Cricket Club’s 150th year, Russell Thynne, Mark Nicholl and Callum Farrer-Hockley, plus the Regional Managing Directors and some other Jensten employees, took to the field to play the Saxons.
T20 Match Review - Jensten Vs Saxons
On Wednesday 26th June, Jensten were welcomed to Church Meadow to play the Saxons in an evening T20 match.

Our Captain, Nigel Rothband, lost a toss in the middle, and Thame batted first.
Under Nigel’s leadership and guidance, the team of “I haven’t played since my school days” performed well, initially restricting Thame to 59 off the first 9 overs.
Unfortunately, as the sun continued to shine and with the sweltering conditions, matters began to slide, and eventually, Thame completed their 20 overs at a total score of 181. However, that represented a sterling effort from a group of players who had not trained or played for several decades in the main.
Things could have been better if it had not been for several dropped chances, and special mention should be made to Russell for his heroic diving effort, albeit Callum earned the “Butter Fingers” prize for dropping a simple skier off Robin Thomson’s deadly spin bowling, after taunting him a couple of balls earlier with a cry of “spin it like a spiders web.”
When Jensten were sent into bat, Thame were able to achieve a regular and disruptive fall of wickets. Ashley Stone opened the batting and topped the score with 16 after some lusty blows, which was an impressive effort.
Eventually, the match was concluded with an impressive slog back over the bowler’s head for four by Neil Grimshaw, with a respectable overall score for Jensten of 111.
The teams then joined together in mutual congratulations, vowing to set another match in 12 months’ time.
